From modelling a clay clay dog at school to ceramic student, college tutor, community freelance teacher and maker, exciting changes are again afoot. Originally from Scotland, I now live and work from my studio at home in Bramley, Rotherham, South Yorkshire where I have pursued a career in ceramics for over 20 years. My recent work is the culmination of deep exploration of green glazes and my pieces are often further enhanced using melted glass. Some of my work has a botanical theme and I love to use impressed decoration, such as the fossilized print which remains after a leaf or lace has been rolled into clay. I create stoneware pieces for gardens, such as wall pieces and leaves on rods which are lovely singly or in multiples. My portfolio also includes work on a very small scale, such as fine porcelain jewellery. Unique seasonal decorations, glazed on both sides, are a specialism too. Periodically I design and make a body of work for Raku-firing. Excitingly, I am entering a new milestone in my creative life! For over 20 years I had the pleasure of combining the production of my ceramics alongside teaching pottery on a freelance basis in the community but have now decided to move on and to focus on my dream- to solely create work for selling during my events calendar, with the help of my husband Andy. Watch this space... I exhibit widely. Please see my events section and click 'more' to see further future events. Applications for events are ongoing.
